Very scenic, with good current and over 25 Class I rapids. The entire length of this trip has the special designation of "Virginia Scenic River", the only stretch with this designation on the James River. Ranked by Blue Ridge Outdoor Magazine June 2009 edition as best class I trip in the SouthEast. Wildlife sightings are frequent on this section. Trip requires customers to drive their car to the Horseshoe Bend boat landing. *12 years old will allow 8 years old w/ parent or guardian. 5 - 6 hours.

This exciting trip is only runable when the Maury is over 1.6 feet on the river gauge which is typically from April to June or after a big rain. The trip featuring exciting 12 mile section with good current and numerous Class I & II rapids. Trip typically takes most groups 4.5 - 5.5 hours to complete. Trip departs from the Glasgow public boat landing, NOT our Buchanan store location. *12 years old, will allow 8 years old w/ parent or guardian.
