DAY TRIPS
Our day trips are by far our most popular activity here at Twin River Outfitters. We can run river trips on nearly 63 miles of the James, 20 miles of the Maury, 7 miles of the lower Cowpasture, and 10 miles of the Jackson Rivers offering our customers a wide variety of paddling options. We have easy lazy river trips to white water trips to test your paddling skills. We can offer customers remote wilderness trips to or great floats for fishing, all with true Blue Ridge mountain views.
All our day trips can be run in a canoe, kayak, or rafts (when river levels permit). We have carefully scouted and mapped all our trips and have established sites for all our access and take out points. We have permission to use these spots and never break trespass laws by putting our customers in across private property or railroad tracks. Most of the property along our rivers is private, so careful planning is important.
The James River is run able all season. We can run custom river trips on the Maury, Cowpasture, & Jackson River trips as water levels cooperate. We monitor river conditions and rainfall amounts daily (and have since 1978). We know when it's unsafe to boat. We're fully licensed and insured for all the services we provide.
Prices include use detailed river maps, safety orientation, use of boats, paddles, life jackets, dry bags, dry boxes, and shuttles. All our trips are self guided unless specially stated otherwise. Please note the total passenger and gear weight limits for our canoes are 1000 lbs, weight limit for kayakers is approximately 300 lbs.
What to bring: River trips are lots of fun, but you must come dressed appropriately. Dress in a bathing suit and appropriate river footwear. Correct footwear is tennis shoes or river sandals with ankle straps, NO FLIP FLOPS OR BARE FEET ALLOWED. Many folks also bring sun screen, drinks, snacks, hats, and sun glasses all depending on the weather and how long you plan to be on the river.
Minimum age for insurance reasons is 6 years old.
