MULTI-DAY RIVER CAMPING TRIPS make for a great getaway. TRO is one of the few canoe liveries in Virginia that offers a true multi-day river camping trip experience for its customers. We really believe we have the best location in the Mid-Atlantic region for paddle camping trips. All camping is primitive with no facilities. We have carefully scouted and mapped all our trips. We have established sites for all our access points and for campsites. We have permission to use these spots and never break trespass laws by putting our customers in across private property or railroad tracks or directing them to camp wherever they wish. Most of the property along our rivers is private, so careful planning is important. 

We primarily use canoes for our multi-day trips as they are perfect for carrying several days’ worth of gear. We, on occasion, can use kayaks or even rafts depending upon the group and water conditions. Rafts are very stable and almost impossible to flip over in the rapids making them great gear hauling boats. They are slower to paddle than canoes or kayaks and work best at higher water levels.

Kayaks are fun to paddle but have very limited space to carry necessary camping gear. Kayaks work great with groups taking several canoes along to carry the main camping gear, allowing some of the party to take smaller, more nimble kayaks.

Prices include use of detailed river maps, safety orientation, use of boats, paddles, life jackets, dry bags, dry boxes, private land for camping, and shuttles. All of our trips are self guided unless specially stated otherwise. Please note the total passenger and gear weight limits for our canoes is 1000 lbs.
